Not everyone enjoy the American Idol show but whether you love or hate it, it’s one of the biggest moneymakers a TV reality show has ever produced.

People that became Idol fans either love music or enjoy singing but mostly are lousy singers and yet think that they are the best judges on earth. I am one of these people.

I followed from Season 3 onwards but I don’t consider myself a fanatic fan. Let’s define a fanatic fan: someone that cannot miss even a single show and know all contestant names by heart, including their juicy life stories. I don’t qualify for that. I’m just a normal fan – select my favorite – rooted for him or her – get into fights with my sister over who is the best – somehow, my favorite was not everyone’s favorite – so, got booted. After that, my interest for the show just fizzles out. I don’t usually sit through the finale. The answer is obvious: my favorite is already out – that sums up my good judgment but of course, I always believe it’s the American people that had made the mistake.

The show for this season is approaching the end now. And like any other year, this is the point where I’m not interested in the show anymore.

Anoop Desai - rooted for him because he looks more…Malaysian. Huh? What an excuse! Alright, it’s because he looks like a bollywood star. So, who won’t fall for him, rite? But, seriously, I like his bluesy tone – very soothing to the ears. Good looks are a plus but you will soon find out that I am not that vain (check out who is in my no. 1 spot below). I am deadly serious about good vocals. Ok, you may asked (if you are a Lambert fan), why not Adam – he has great vocals too? But, I beg to differ. Great vocals, yes! But, his squeaky voice does not appeal to me. Ok, the Lambert fans can throw stones at me now.

My pick of all-time top 10 American Idols from Season 1 to 8…

(10) Ruben Studdard I like the fact that he got a foundation for the advancement of the children in the music arts.

(9) Clay Aiken I enjoyed most of his post-idol songs.

(8) La Toya London Do you remember her rendition of “All by Myself”? She got a standing ovation from two of the judges.

(7) Bo Bice Cool guy, and I envy his long awesome hair.

(6) Carrie Underwood Arguably the most successful American Idol of all time. She sounded much better post-idol.

(5) Brooke White You may not even remember her. But I like her guts when she asked the band to restart a song because she had forgotten her lyrics.

(4) Melinda Doolittle Jordin Sparks stole the crown from her.

(3) Chris Daughtry His vocal is not the best but he has great record sales – in fact, the most successful contestant from his season.

(2) Kelly Clarkson She got to be in this list. Her post-idol success is instrumental in ensuring the show continue to be a money-churner.

(1) ELLIOT YAMIN An underdog right from the beginning. I like all his rendition of Donny Hathaway’s songs. He was the one that introduced me to this wonderful ballad, “Moody’s Mood for Love” and till now, I still can’t sing this song (oh, I forgotten that I’m a lousy singer).
